The Hampton voters approved an appropriation of $90,000 to rebuild the Ice Pond dam at the 2015 Hampton Town Meeting.
Ice Pond is:
-
a venue for passive recreation including birding, paddling, fishing and ice skating.
-
protected open space
-
a wildlife habitat
We appreciate that the voters recognize that this is the Town's pond; the only pond in Hampton that is protected from further development, and has easy public access.
Unfortunately, the proposed dam proved to be far more expensive than anticipated. Click the links in the menu bar to learn more about the Ice Pond and the next steps in this process.

The Ice Pond is beautiful at all times of the day.
This shows the Ice Pond dam after a December, 2014 storm completely destroyed the spillway. Even the work that local beavers had done was washed away.
In late summer, dozens of egrets visit Ice Pond. Ducks, geese, hawks and eagles have been spotted in and over Ice Pond.
